Sustainable Development, Poverty and Hunger WorkshopJerry Berke, United Nations Development Programme (retired)Jerry Berke served with the UN Development Programme, (UNDP) from 1970 to 1995. During that time, he managed UNDP's economic assistance programs in Zambia, India, Nepal and ten countries in the South Pacific. In Nepal and the Pacific countries, he coordinated all UN assistance. He also served as UNDP's Chief of Training and senior advisor to the UN under the Secretary General. Prior to joining the United Nations, he worked for the US Agency for International Development, where he administered American assistance to Asian and African countries. He has served as president of the North Carolina Division. As vice president of the West Triangle Chapter of the UN Association, he focuses on educating the public about the United Nations and its work.
