Peace and Security WorkshopDeborah Owen, UN, Security Situation RoomDeborah Owen is currently an operations officer for the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations, specializing in Asia and the Middle East. Her duties include: responsibility for the liaison function between the peacekeeping missions and UN senior management; Providing UN senior management with analysis and reporting of new political, military, and humanitarian developments in affected countries. She has served in UN peacekeeping missions to Somalia (for Black Sunday when the Rangers were killed); to Rwanda (three days after the 1994 ceasefire); and Sarajevo (during the war and after Operation Storm).
